On Chinese New Year, see who is coming to the Algorand ecosystem from the East?
2022 is the Year of the Tiger according to Chinese zodiac, and the 1circle Chinese community is bringing a special friend to the Algorand ecosystem — Tiger Chi.
Why are we doing this?
For the past two years, the world has been shrouded in the haze of COVID19, and we all hope that we can get rid of COVID and regain our freedom as soon as possible. Coincidentally, the tiger is a sacred animal in Chinese culture that wards off disease and brings good luck. Therefore, the Chinese community brought the tiger, a symbol of luck and prosperity, into the Algorand ecosystem, hoping that the virus would go away soon.
At the same time, we wish to raise everyone’s awareness of the environment and animal protection. Algorand is one of the greenest blockchains in the world and has always been committed to protecting the environment and its ecosystem. This philosophy is very much in line with ours, and is why we chose Algorand for this project.
We plan to implement this philosophy in our Tiger NFT project and contribute to the protection of wild animals. We will do this by donating a portion of NFT sales revenue to animal protection-related charities, such as WWF & Tiger4ever. We also plan to establish long-term partnerships with them.
Driven by such a mission, the Chinese community started this NFT art journey.
Our take on NFT
NFT is a new art form and a powerful communication medium that brings people closer together. In this new art form, everyone can learn about different cultures around the world. This inspired us to incorporate Chinese elements into NFT’s, and make them travel through this borderless world. We will have the first Chinese artist Yangyang to create his NFTs on the Algorand ecosystem, this is a significant milestone for our community.
Tiger and its oriental story
Tigers have a very long history of living together with humans and have coexisted for centuries. When the Chinese formed their own culture around five thousand years ago, the tiger were part of this awakening. The Chinese believe that the tiger symbolizes the sun and strength, can ward off diseases, protect peace and bring good luck to people. In ancient Chinese mythology, there are five kinds of tigers that govern the balance of the universe, and keep the world in harmony. Our Chinese community will bring these five tigers into the Tiger Chi NFT project and protect everyone in 2022. How exciting!
About Tiger Chi Project
The Tiger NFT launched by the Chinese community consists of 888 uniquely minted little tigers. Yangyang, a trendy artist from our community, created the artworks. The project is purely community driven, by a team full of passion and creativity. Everyone is so dedicated that all have completed a great amount of work in a short period. There are also several foreign friends in the team, who have a strong interest in Chinese culture, and are willing to help us along the way to accomplish our mission. We are truly grateful to them and to the global community of Algorand.
